Next week we continue our celebration of Black History Month with a special Community Dialogue on Monday hosted by the DVS Black Student Union (BSU) and the DVS National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) clubs during advisory! Week 25 will follow our regular schedule.

The 2022 College Prep Scholars Program application is now open! Start your application today.

Applying to college can seem daunting, and the prospect of paying for it can seem even more overwhelming. The College Prep Scholars Program equips high-achieving high school juniors from low-income backgrounds with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to apply to top colleges.

Being a College Prep Scholar is a notable distinction that shows our college partners that you are a competitive candidate for admission. In addition, your application will automatically carry over for the National College Match when you’re a senior, giving you a head start on applying for a full four-year scholarship to our college partners.

Awards for College Prep Scholars may include:

• A full scholarship to a college summer program hosted by Yale, Emory, UChicago, and more.
• Quest for Excellence Awards, such as $1,000 for a new laptop or other resources to help the student enhance their college application.
• Exclusive access to a QuestBridge National College Admissions Conference — an invite-only event featuring workshops and a college fair with our college partners.
• Personalized college essay feedback.
• Campus visits or other opportunities from QuestBridge college partners.
• Specialized guidance and resources for the college application process.

Attention Seniors!!!

Kinecta provides eight $2,000 scholarships each year to help full-time students achieve their educational goals. Students are eligible if they are:

• Age 24 or younger
• A high school senior applying for, or already accepted as, a full-time student at an accredited college or university, or
• A full-time student attending and continuing at an accredited college or university.

Applications will be accepted.

Funds will be paid directly to the winner’s college/university on or around.

The Priority Application Deadline for new Da Vinci students entering grades TK-12 in the 2022-23 school year is February 28th.

While most campus visits have been suspended due to COVID, Da Vinci continues to offer many virtual and self-guided options for prospective students and families to get to know our schools, including recorded info sessions and student chats, virtual campus tours, alumni conversations, and more. We are also offering in-person tours of Da Vinci Connect High’s new campus, located at 550 Continental Blvd. in El Segundo.

Dear DVS Family,

I am writing today to let you know that I will be resigning as principal of Da Vinci Science at the end of this 2021-22 academic year. I love our school and have tremendous gratitude for the opportunity I’ve had to be a part of our founding and growth from our humble beginning in 2009 to the fantastic school we are today. I will miss the excitement and adventure of leading this magnificent DVS family and the energy and creativity of our wonderful students and incredible staff. This has been the best job I’ve ever had and I will be leaving with a heart full of gratitude for this chapter of my journey.

I love being a part of the Da Vinci Schools organization and the Wiseburn community. Serving as principal of DVS has been the highlight of my career and I am profoundly grateful for the trust that the community, the Da Vinci Schools leaders, and the Board of Trustees have given me to lead and learn and grow in my time in this role.  I look forward to supporting the DVS family with a thoughtful and intentional plan for setting up the new leadership of DVS for continued success!

DVS students may receive free tutoring Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 3:30-4:30pm. Mondays are with UC tutors from RRISE Up in the Robinson Room. Tuesdays and Thursdays are with DVS Academic Coaches – specialized subjects include Math and Spanish, and will be held in the Galileo Room. We encourage students to come if they could use support in these areas!

Here’s some exciting info for the DVS Class of 2022 and their families! On Monday, seniors received information about spring Senior Activities and the DV Senior Activities Contract. You can see details on these documents:
