Message to DVS Students & Families

Dear DVS Students and Parents,

We write this email to you on a day that is filled with grief, anxiety, pain and unrest that our local and national communities are feeling in the wake of the recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery. These injustices, which highlight systemic problems in our society that must be faced, happen amidst the backdrop of a global pandemic that prevents us from being on campus together.

Our entire DVS community is likely to be affected and experiencing a range of emotions about all that is going on. Know that whatever you are feeling, it is okay and that your DVS teachers, counselors, academic coaches and school leaders are here to support you in any way we can. We encourage you to reach out to us if there is any way that we can be of help in this tremendously difficult time. Please know that you are valued and appreciated. We wish you a safe, healthy, and peaceful week.

Sincerely,

Steve, Grace, & the entire DVS staff

I encourage all of you to check your student’s Powerschool account to be sure that they have submitted all of their assignments. After June 1st, Powerschool access will be turned off while grades are finalized.

Class of 2020 Virtual Graduation and Senior Activities

Good morning DVS families and especially to our resilient class of 2020 – CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming graduation! We appreciate your understanding as we work through the logistics of celebrating our seniors while adhering to LA County and Department of Health guidelines. With the current restrictions, which include a ban on drive-through graduations and parades, we have determined that our best option is to honor our seniors with a virtual graduation ceremony which will take place on Thursday, June 11th at 9:00am. Please click on this link for more details: 2020 Senior End-of-Year Information

Remember that June 1st is the deadline for students to turn in work to be counted as evidence of content mastery this semester – keep working hard and finish the year well!
