Week 4: College Rep Visits

Good morning DVS families!  I hope you had a great weekend.   Below are the College Rep Visits for Week 4:

  • Monday, 9/8: California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech)
  • Tuesday, 9/9: Chapman University
  • Wednesday, 9/10: Hobart and William Smith
  • Thursday, 9/11: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Presentation will be at lunch time in Mr. Perez’s classroom.  These presentations are open to all DVS students of all grade levels (9th-12th).

College Rep Visits Start TOMORROW!

Hello DVS Families!  DVS is excited to host various colleges throughout the fall semester to support students in their college search. Visits from college representatives start tomorrow and will continue throughout the semester.

CSU Dominguez Hills will be at DVS tomorrow, September 4th.  This presentation will be at lunchtime in Mr. Perez’s classroom and is open to all DVS students grade 9th-12th.

Future college representative visits will be included in the “Week Preview” as well as on the student’s Grade Level Canvas page.  We encourage students to come learn about the majors, programs and services of universities they are interested in.  All grade-levels are welcome!

Posse Foundation Scholarship Opportunity

Hello Junior Families!

I want to share an exciting opportunity with you about the Posse Foundation Scholarship. Every year, The Posse Foundation works closely with high schools, like Da Vinci Science, to recruit students who demonstrate leadership and academic potential to become a Posse Scholar. If selected, a Posse Scholar wins a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to attend one of Posse’s partner colleges or universities:

Negotiating Your Financial Aid Award Workshop Series

Good morning DVS Senior Families,

Da Vinci Schools is thrilled to announce a powerful, practical, and proven workshop designed to help families decode, dispute, and decrease their college costs. If you’re looking to make college more affordable, this workshop is for you!

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to analyze, assess, and adjust financial aid award letters.
  • Strategies for writing clear, compelling, and convincing financial aid appeal letters.
  • Proven methods to negotiate, navigate, and knock down your college’s cost-effectively.

College Planning Information Sessions Start NEXT WEEK

Hello 9th and 10th grade families!  The Spring ’25 College Planning Information Sessions start next week. We will welcome 9th grade families on Tuesday, March 11th and 10th grade families on Wednesday, March 12th. Come learn more about college and career readiness, pathway selection, graduation requirements, college admissions tips and more! DVS is Going to the Black College Expo on Saturday, February 1, 2025

Good afternoon DVS families,

On Saturday, February 1st DVS will take students to the HBCU Black College Expo held at SoFi Stadium.  ALL DVS students are welcome to attend! The Expo will host a variety of colleges: public, private, independent, military, and trade schools. Some colleges will accept seniors for admission, waive college application fees and give away scholarships on the spot! Other highlights include a pre-show before the Honda Battle of the Bands, featuring 6 different HBCU marching bands. DVS will be attending the College Expo portion only; the Battle of Bands is a separate, ticketed event after the College Expo.

Admission is free and transportation is provided. We will depart from 201 N. Douglas promptly at 9:00am and return at 1:45pm. Students must bring their own lunch or bring money to purchase food.

We only have a limited number of spots available and spots are on a first-come, first serve basis.

If interested in attending, please complete this field trip permission slip.  Permission slips are due by Wednesday, January 29th at 3:30pm to Ms. Marquez or until all spots are filled.
