Dear DVS Families,
I hope you have all had an enjoyable summer! We are getting ready to start things up again at DVS, with our new staff starting tomorrow and our veterans returning on Wednesday to begin our preparation for the 2019-2020 school year!
The first day of school is Monday, August 19th. Students will gather together in the “back yard” before school, and at 8:30 the DVS students will go to the black box theater where they will meet up with their advisory families to begin the school year together! The students will get their schedules in their advisory class on the first day.
There are a few changes this year at DVS!
-We have three new staff members: Lori Hunt (Assistant Principal), Alan Davis (Engineering), and Dena Almaraz (Special Education).
-We have a new weekly schedule, in which classes begin at 8:30am each day (last year class started at 8:40am) and all periods meet on Monday. Students will have a longer break after their first class to allow time for a breakfast snack, and before their seminar to give them more time to transition and change clothes if necessary. See below for a typical week’s schedule.
-We have adjusted the DVS dress code to allow students to wear athletic shorts and pants (other aspects of the dress code remain the same). In addition, families can now purchase collared shirts with the DVS logo online here.
I look forward to beginning the new school year together! Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions!
