Upcoming SAT & ACT Prep Courses at DVS

DVS is offering students 3 more great opportunities to take SAT & ACT preparation courses on campus!

During POL week, students in 10th and 11th grade will be taking a 3-hour course on one of the days that they are not presenting their pol. This course is FREE and will be taught by Ivy Prep, which you can learn more about at http://www.ivyprepeducation.com/ .

During the third week of winter break (January 7-11), DVS is offering an ACT Prep course to its students through PJ Test Prep (http://www.pjtestprep.com), a small Test Prep and Tutoring company based in the south bay. The course, open to students from all DV high schools, will be 5 days over winter break from Monday January 7th to Friday January 11th, 2.5 hours per day. Students can sign up for either the AM session (10:00-12:30) or the PM session (1:15-3:45) and are expected to attend the same session for all 5 days. The course, normally valued at $500, costs only $50 per student! Partial scholarships are available, so please don’t let the cost stop you from signing up!
After signing up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f45afaf28a64-winter2 , students pay the $50 course fee to their school’s office. Please make checks out to “Da Vinci Schools” and write “ACT Test Prep” on the memo line. Space is limited, so sign up soon!

Finally, DVS plans to offer an SAT Prep seminar open to all students on Mondays & Wednesdays. Students can request this seminar by taking the seminar survey that will be going out to them next week.

Please feel free to contact me at swallis@davincischools.org if you have any questions. We are proud to be preparing our students for college!

Alumni Event on Thursday, 12/20

On Thursday, December 20th (9:00-11:00 am), DVS alumni will be participating in Alumni Panel Talks with our 9th-12th grade students! The alumni are excited to share information about the colleges they are attending/graduated from, advice about how to be successful at DVS, the ways to best prepare for college, and answer any questions from our students. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to hear from DVS alumni who have been in their shoes! If your student has questions, we’d love to share with the alumni in advance – please contribute questions at https://tinyurl.com/2018AlumniPanels. If your student is in the afternoon POL session and would like to attend, or if you have any further questions, please email our alumni mentor, Katie Kondo, at kkondo@davincischools.org

Feedback Requested from Gensler Architects

The architects of our beautiful school building at Gensler are asking for our feedback about our experience with our building. If you have about 5 minutes, would you mind reading the message below and taking the survey?

” Greetings from Gensler architecture and design! We hope you’re enjoying your new school building. We worked long and hard with DaVinci management team to designed the new facility that you moved into last year!

We are proud to have worked with DaVinci as a progressive school and we’re looking to learn more about modern education. We’re conducting a post-occupancy research survey to gather insights about how you are using the different spaces in DaVinci and what you think about them.

Thank you for your time!”

It’s the last week before Presentations of Learning, and Friday 12/14 is the last day for students to submit work for 1st semester.
I have also created a survey to ask your opinion about some of the changes we made from last year to this year and how they have impacted your student’s experience at DVS. I would appreciate it if you would spend a couple minutes taking the survey to give me your feedback: https://goo.gl/forms/qVTz7tK2e1CxlgCQ2
