Hi Families! Just a reminder that this Wednesday, 11/18 is Exhibition Night at DVS! The students are excited to showcase their projects and explain what they’ve learned this semester. This is a great evening to invite family and friends to see the school and meet the students. The event is open-house style, so our doors are open from 6pm to 8pm. Students are expected to be here the whole time, but friends and families may come and go as they please. Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday!
Congrats to the DVS volleyball team and their coach Jamie Larson for making it to the second round of the playoffs in their first year in CIF! We are so proud of you!
The DVS students did a fantastic job in yesterday’s shooter-on-campus drill which was run by the Hawthorne Police. In the debrief today, the HPD Sargeant told us that DVS is a “national model” for how schools should be preparing for such a scenario. Well done, DVS students – and thank you for helping keep us safe, HPD!
Here is the schedule for next week: DVS week 14 schedule
Congrats to our Da Vinci Girls’ Volleyball team for making the CIF playoffs!
We are hosting the first playoff game tomorrow, Tuesday 11/10 at 4:30 pm, at Del Aire Park gym. Adult tickets are $10, student tickets are $5. You can also purchase a Wolf Pride Paw at the game tomorrow – $5 per paw or 2 for $8 – to cheer on the team now and for other sports to come. Go Wolves!
Next week is the last week of seminars for first semester, the beginning of Exhibition preparation, and the continuation of our Safety & Awareness advisory unit, which will include a critical incident drill on Thursday. There is no school on Wednesday, in observance of Veterans’ Day.
The critical incident drill is run by the Hawthorne Police Department and it is meant to teach the students what to do in the case of an armed intruder on campus. No real weapons will be used in the drill. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns about this drill.
